The local Government complex had many troublesome areas of concern around their buildings. These issues created tripping hazards and an eyesore for both officials and residents. To remedy this our team Injected PolyLevel foam under the slab to fill in voids and lift and level the concrete. By doing so we were able to allow them to return to a complex of complete function, as well give them peace of mind that no one would injure themselves.
This homeowner contacted us to see what could be done to remedy the water problem they were having in there basement. Our Design Specialist came out to assess what was wrong with their home. In the process of assessing their home, he found out they had a monolithic foundation. He was able to determine this by seeing that there was a full exposed block where the floor and wall meet, this indicated to him that the floor was poured first and then the wall was built on top of it, which is not a traditional way to build a home. The traditional way to construct a home is to pour the footing, then the wall and lastly pour the floor. A home is traditionally built this way as the footing is the most important part of the home. Due to this if a traditional waterproofing system was to be installed the structural integrity of the home would be compromised, as a third of the footing would be removed. Due to this home having a monolithic foundation we needed to install our patented Dual System with DryTrak.
In this situation, we needed to install our Dual System to stop water from coming in at the floor joints, floor cracks and to alleviate water from coming up under the floor due to hydrostatic pressure. In order to install our Dual System with DryTrak, we had to jackhammer one foot away from the wall, by doing this we can create a footing that does not compromise the structural integrity of the home. By doing this we can eliminate water coming up through the slab due to the creation of the path of least resistance, as well due to DryTrak water will be stopped at the wall-floor joint. In order to implement Drytrak with our Dual System, we needed to grind the wall-floor joint to allow for maximum adherence of epoxy. We then cleaned the surface to perfection, and then finally apply epoxy to the wall-floor joint to run DryTrak around the perimeter of the basement, by doing this we will be able to catch any water that penetrates their home and direct it to the sump pump. These homeowners wanted to improve the quality of their backyard. Because of the many projects that we had completed for other clients we were contacted to help improve the curb appeal of their backyard.
This homeowner had contacted us about two and half years ago saying they thought they had a leak in their basement. Our Specialist then went out and evaluated their home, upon his evaluation he was able to confirm their thoughts about a plumbing leak, he as well mentioned to them that there were a couple of signs that concerned him about their being potentially a bigger water problem in the future. Two years later our Specialist received a call again from the homeowner that their basement was taking on an extreme amount of water due to the issues that our Specialist had pointed out during his previous evaluation. He was able to figure out that they had a lot of hydrostatic pressure pushing water up into their basement.
For us to fix the problem at hand for this homeowner to ensure that their home stays dry regardless of the season, as well as the amount of rain or snow they get we installed one of our patented waterproofing systems, which is comprised of 160 feet of FlowGuard, an under slab system with a lateral that spaned from the back part of their basement to our sump basin. Finally to make sure that all water caught by our waterproofing system would be directed out of the home we installed a SuperSump basin with approximately 220 feet of gravity discharged, which would run in front of their home to the front right-hand corner of the property where it would discharge into their pond.
These complex owners were referred to us by Creative Finishes and another past client of ours. They specifically contacted Basement Systems Of New York to see how we could help bring life back to the pool in their complex. Because of the soil conditions and the location, it began to sink slowly. Once the voids formed underneath the pool, they began, to lose several thousand gallons of water.
To fix the problems that they were experiencing, we strategically drilled over fifty 5/8th pilot holes in the pool itself. Once we reached the proper depth, we began to slowly lift, level, and stabilize the pool with PolyLevel. Once done, we double-checked each hole to ensure that it was filled. Once this was confirmed, we began our clean-up and finishing process.
After completing the pool, we turned our attention to the back left side of the pool deck. The back corner needed some serious help, as the slab had sunken significantly. The sunken slab created both a tripping hazard and a safety concern. More specifically, the safety concern was that the void under the slab would grow and would cause someone to hurt themselves worse than just incurring a few scrapes. Again we strategically drilled our pilot holes to the proper depth to fill the voids. Once we achieved the proper depth needed we began to lift, level, and stabilize the affected area.
During the project, these owners were on-site to make sure that the project went smoothly, as well because of the processes and products we were using piqued their curiosity. As they watched our teamwork to bring life back both to the pool and deck they could not be more amazed at how interesting and how well the products worked. They could not be any happier with how phase one of their project turned out. They are looking forward to having us back to restore life to the rest of their pool deck at the end of May 2022.
